OVERVIEW
The push for a low carbon economy has presented a significant challenge as organizations map out strategies to reduce their carbon footprints. In most cases these efforts tend to be clustered; academicians, the business community, government agencies, national governments, not for profit organizations and research centers usually embark on programs without any awareness of what other organizations are doing in this effort. This lack of awareness leads to duplication of effort thus wasting valuable resources as organization re-invent what is already in existence and in some cases come up with worse solutions. To avoid such waste, groups and individual organizations need to have a window to what other groups are doing, through a well coordinated collaborative environment. The information gathered will serve as a foundation for more green initiatives. The synergy derived from such a union will reduce the costs of integrating sustainable initiatives in operations, communities or government at local, national and global levels and accelerate the trajectory towards a cleaner and sustainable global economy.
